This week, we experienced our first major condo renovation blip.
Let me set the scene: we’re in the final stretch. Movers come next week. The cabinets and countertop are all scheduled to be installed this weekend.
And then yesterday, I get a call from the cabinet provider (who shall remain nameless…) that my dream countertop AND my two backup options (yes, I had two backup options) are ALL out of stock.
Thankfully, we were able to make a v last minute trip to the counter people store to pick out yet another quarts, but unfortunately, it is completely different, which changes the entire kitchen aesthetic and requires some serious last minute design modifications.
Four days before the scheduled install.
Needless to say, I had a lot of choice words for the salesperson who handled me at the cabinet store this afternoon, and I was in. A. Mood. All. Day. Hunty. But when I logged onto Wayfair.com to order the newly required kitchen hardware, my mood was quickly snapped back into perspective when I stumbled upon Wayfair’s partnership with Home for our Troops.
Wayfair.com is an online home goods store with over 5,000 brands and millions of products, furniture and accessories. Wayfair is my go to destination for home shopping because not only do they have a wide variety of home goods for any budget, but I LIVE by the customer reviews of everything they sell. Wayfair makes it v easy to view and compare products, and did I mention that they have free freaking shipping (which is a gift from the Gawds for folks like me who are habitual online shoppers)?!
Home for our Troops
Wayfair has teamed up with Homes for Our Troops in an effort to support the organization’s mission to build and donate specially adapted, custom homes for severely injured, post-9/11 war veterans. Started in 2004 by a local contractor in Massachusetts with a passion for helping veterans, Home for our Troops has now built over 270 specially adapted homes nationwide.
The Curtain Family
Wayfair’s most recent partnership with Home for our Troops was to furnish the home of Marine Lance Corporal John Curtain. You can see more of their family story and Wayfair’s direct involvement with this inspiring organization to help transform the Curtain home into a much more accessible environment for John and his entire family here.
How Can You Participate?
Now, to bring this thang full circle.
While scouring the site for a new set of kitchen cabinet handles, I realized that Wayfair has brought the opportunity to aid in the next big project with Wayfair and Home for our Troops right to my living room! Wayfair has enabled a convenient opt-in to their checkout process at Wayfair.com so you can make a donation of any size right at checkout.
As the daughter of a veteran (love you, daddy), I’m thankful for the opportunity to not only shop with ease, but to also have a super accessible option to give back to a community near and dear to my heart, all in the same transaction.
You can check out some of the pieces from the gorgeous Curtain family reno (as well as a few pieces coming home for my own soon-to-be-complete condo renovation) below. Happy shopping and happy giving, friends!
